Sweet doll quilts

I think antique doll quilts have got to be the sweetest old textile of all. I just love them. I drool over them in books and on Pinterest, and hunt for them in antique shops. I was going to say that I don't own one, but as I'm writing, it's dawning on me that yes, I probably do. You see, my great grandmother made one for me and my doll many years ago. Surely, it's approaching antique status by now! 😊

Here's a little doll taking a nap on a pile of doll quilts. Both the doll and the doll quilts are handmade by me.
I've been wanting to make a few more, so I pulled out my stash of civil war repro prints.

It's been a gray, rainy day and the reds kept catching my eye, brightening up my work area.
Thought you might like to see a few happy red antique doll quilts that I found on Pinterest. They are so sweet!

I love the setting strips on this one.

This one makes me smile. It's so bright and cheery!

And this one? Love. The fabrics are awesome, love triangles, and if you tilt on its side, there's a big red bowtie looking quite smart and hip!

Happy Friday everyone, and hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I love them...think they're the sweetest. I have one from Lori of Notforgotten Farm, which was made lovingly and primitively with Civil War reproduction materials...
